SUICIDES NOT SPOKEN ABOUT

I often wonder why they dont talk about the amount of suicides that we are currently experiencing in Australia?  I heard it's approximately 7 a day here in Perth?

Dont want copy catting going on?  Just dont want people to know it's all very hush hush? WHY?

Talking with alot of people every day and when I do come across a parent who has lost their child to suicide - I say "I dont know what to even say about that"?  The feed back is at least your honest, as for others they just change the subject.  How do parents learn to cope with that?

Not an easy one, or if they have been living with the dread of it for years as their children have been on the suicide watch for a long time, they tell me that they are actually relieved in the end.  I know that it's not just the parents its also the dread of the people who constantly go around to see them in a professional capacity every week as they tell me they dont know what they are going to find when they go inside the property and they are extremely anxious with a lot of the people they visit frequently.

I know it's a very hard thing, I know that Government currently have their hands full, I know that before COVID-19 though, our Governments were not and are still not doing enough to build facilities for these people so they can have access to people immediately if their minds turn to suicide.  What can you do I dont know it's such a tradegy for everyone.  This is not getting any better either with COVID happening its getting worse.

All I can say is that you can make a call to someone that you know is currently on the edge - not sure that it will stop them doing what they want to do but telling a person you care is a great start.

I am not trying to put the blame on anyone but it's so unfair not knowing what the current stat's are as I think that people might just ring someone if they knew a bit more.  It's such a horrid thing and with people being very busy and consumed with their own lives sometimes we just need a shake up to start thinking of someone else.

I try to smile and make someone smile every day even if I dont know them, you just dont know what they are thinking or whats happening in their lives but you could just make a difference.

Being a parent, being a real estate agent, being a friend to alot of people, some that have difficulties in their lives, all I can say to you is, try helping someone out and keep a close eye on them.  It's extremely hard and I have had a few experiences through being friends with some people that have suicided but fortunately not family for me. Either way it's very hard.

Stay safe everyone and try to remain positive we have a lot to be grateful here in WA.
