If you are a private landlord you have till the 31st December 2014 to submit your bonds into the Bond Administrator. Laws have now changed thanks to our wised politicians and their staff that you are no longer allowed to be in charge of it.
There is a big fine now also so please make sure you transfer them over if you don't know how to do that you better Google it real fast. Just overheard the Property Managers talking about it...
Handling your own property these days I don't think I would there is just too much against you now days. The judges are always on the tenants side (I know this from personal experience) !!.
Unless you do it full time my advice is don't do it !!
Tenants are doing a runner all the time, if you are not on to it you are going to be a couple of months rent down immediately.
There is so many changes in the legislation that you have to do a lot of things now, if your tenant cannot get you and something break downs guess what they can organise to get it fixed and send you the bill.
MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS AND GIVE IT A REAL GO !!
