I think the lycra men & women should definitely be made to register their road bikes and also I believe they should have an orange flag 1 metre out so that those motorists that perhaps cannot gauge how far 1 metre is can then understand what 1 metre is. The other stipulation I believe is that they should only be allowed to ride in single file, then there wouldn't be so many frustrated motorists out there.
I watch every day a cyclists nearly getting cleaned up and personally I believe there should be a lane for the cyclists and also one for the pedestrians and that way there is no chance of anyone getting cleaned up, everyone has their own lanes.That court case with Jessica Goodson who was left with traumatic head injuries (she had to learn virtually everything from scratch) Christopher Watt cleaned her up as he was not paying attention to his surrounds has cost that poor girl head injuries.
Bicycles are definitely weapons in their own right if not used properly and the abuse you get from cyclists can be very intimidating and I can visualise road rage happening (and it has) I think things have to change as the amount of cyclists on the road is continuing to grow every year.
Cycling Insurance is a very good thing and you cannot tell me that the lycra mob cannot afford - have you seen the get up they get around in, not to mention those very expensive bikes, thats rubbish that it would mean a lot of cyclists wouldn't continue $50 is not going to break their bank I can assure you.
I think that they should bring the insurance in at least third party that way it covers any of their victims doesn't it?
