YOUR COUNCIL

Its funny but most people just pay their rates until such time they think - hang on a minute this has gone up when the CPI is so much less what is my council doing with our money.

You very well may ask that question perhaps you should check out their budgets and what the are spending all the rates on you will find it an interesting read I can assure you.

Personally I think rates have gone up far too much and the way that Councils are charging for them is extremely outdated also.  There should be a ceiling on what they can charge especially for one and two bedroom apartments.  In Mosman Park a two bedroom apartment of 61m2 is currently paying over $1,800 is that fair and reasonable - I dont think so.

If Councillors had to balance their own household budgets they wouldn't be spending the money they are currently with your rates lets be clear about that.

All Council buildings should be receiving monies, the person/s that are using the buildings should be made to keep them in good repair. The Council should not be giving them any handouts to do so, even if they want to renovate.  When I was playing sport we had to fund raise for a new badminton hall which took us two years to do so, in doing this strong bonds were formed with all the players, families etc that were involved in fund raising - builds a very strong community.

I'm sorry but the so called "Treasure Chest" where they actually give away grants !!!  
Then the Council gives away monies to sporting clubs.

You should actually take more notice of whats happening at your Council people as it appears that the chest of money seems to be endless to those that are spending it.
