Hi
Gill,
saw
your comment on your blog spot.
I
fixed this by gluing a sturdy piece of twine at the drip point in the gutter
at the top of the down pipe where the gutter and the down pipe meet. The
twine needs to be synthetic cord, about 1 - 1.5mm thick, not normal “string”,
should go all the way down the down pipe to an inch or so past where the down pipe bends at the bottom. The last drips of water run down the twine,
and there’s no drip, and the twine has almost no effect all all on water
running through the down pipe in heavy rain.
I
often see rusted down pipes at that bottom corner or bend when I’m doing a PCR;
sometimes at the top, too, where the drip point is at the join between the
gutter and down pipe.
Curiously,
it’s rare to see the same rust in a commercial down pipe when doing a PCR.
Not sure why, maybe a different geometry for the assembly.
