COST OF LIVING CRISIS

 Apparently almost two-thirds of vulnerable Australians cannot afford to pay their bills on time, according to the new research highlighting the toll of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The new figures from a Salvation Army survey also found a quarter of people accessing it's surveys were cutting back on their heating as 60 per cent cut back on their showers.

Roughly a third of the 1700 people surveyed were going to bed early to save money on electricity and a similar figure had stopped inviting friends over.

Look I'm not entirely surprised by this and I feel that people are starting to be stretched like a rubber band and eventually something has to give.  But for a long time people have been spending like drunken sailors and not preparing for tomorrow but rather living for today.

With more interest rates being threatened to come through in the next couple of months its going to be even tougher on families.

With people renting its going to get tougher as the rentals keep increasing as investors face higher interest rates, council rates etc. it doesn't stop for them either - what's the answer people will have to keep cutting back on items in their shopping trollies.  I still see a lot of cool drink, chips and unnecessary items in those trollies they are not essential items.

On the ABC one of the presenters asked another one, what is it like to be in a recession - the answer was you don't want to go there its tough.  

I really think that people have had it so good for so many years they thought it would just go on for ever, well nothing does and perhaps this has come to teach us all a lesson.  We just need to wake up and evaluate what's going on here.  We are in for some tough times so bunker down and buckle up as it will hit us with quite a force.

It's time to rally together look after one another and batten down the hatches and let's ride through these tough times that are coming our way.
