RENTAL CRISIS

 Have you been hearing about the shortage of rentals?

Well it's all very true there are definitely not enough rentals to go around and I have experienced it first hand.

Last week I went with Charlotte our property manager as she was holding two viewings at the same place (Dover Court) Charlotte arrived 10 minutes early I got there 7 minutes early and there were 80+ people all lined up waiting to come in. 

It was really an eye opener and of course I had the time to go down the line and talk to a few of these people.  Some had been looking for 2-3 months and keep missing out, some were from Ireland and overseas Doctors, Lawyers, labourers and others were from over East that had taken up jobs on the mines.

It was very sad for a lot of them as you know that only 2 groups will get the chance to have the rental.

$340 was for the one bedroom fully furnished and equipped - we got $370 per week, there was an offer there also for $450 per week but the application wasnt as good apparently.

$390 for the two bedroom and we had a dutch auction going on this one and it ended up gong for $500 per week which was insane.  Nice couple from Sydney that said that the rent here was so cheap.

Interesting enough I think all rents in the Western Suburbs will now go up as to be honest I have always thought that the apartments were very low in their prices.  To be the same price as Highgate Mt Lawley etc. when you are right on the train line between the river and the sea etc. its a real bonus to live in the Western Suburbs.

We are getting people walking in to the office, ringing me up pleading with me to get them a rental its pretty obvious that its very tight out there.

It just goes to show you though it's best to have a property manager checking out the applications you are receiving as you most owners would be swayed by the money being offered but we all know that it can be trouble also.
