Until you actually write down everything that you spend in a week/month/3 months you really dont have any idea. Have you got an actual budget? Have you planned what you are wanting to do this year that involves money? If you havn't you certainly should be.
Some tips to help you towards that goal:
1. Are you grabbing that coffee every morning - what is the cost? $4.50 - $5.00 and are you only getting the one a day - if you are getting 1 per day thats $31.50 per week
2. How about tracking your actual spending in a book for 3 months I bet you will be shocked with what you see
3. Have you thought about actually drawing out what cash you have allowed yourself for the week and paying by cash eliminating all the fee's attached to a credit card
4. Create the budget that you can actually live with not be too generous or to stingey make it realistic
5. Set up an automatic transfer to a savings account - perhaps starting with $5-$10 per week nce you have set and forgotten it you will be surprised how it will soon add up
6. Meal planning - always quite hard to do but try and buy the food for the week (on line might be best as you dont get tempted to buy those biscuits/chocolates on sale)
7. Set up a payment plan for 1 debit at a time and work through them
8. Try using Netflix instead of Foxtel
9. Plan your nights out and give yourself a budget to spend (should already be allowed for in the budget you have given yourself)
10. Try giving up alcohol for 3 months (yep I know sounds like forever) but honestly put that money into your savings account and watch that buggar grow.
In life you have to budget it's a known fact unless you win 80 million in lotto then I say bloody go for it no more budgeting in your life.
