So you are trying to find a rental and now you are competing against several others (I have heard that there were 13 applications on one property just recently).
Take my advice and down load the application, have it filled in ready to hand over to the person opening the home and if you want the property then hand it straight over. If you can afford to pay $20-$30 more on the property then offer that.
Have all your references, bank statements, pet reference (yes pet reference) all ready so they dont have to ask you for anything. That means copies of your drivers license, passport or whatever it takes to get the id check done.
Pet reference what is that: how old your dog is, what breed is it even as far as getting a reference from your last landlord or someone that knows the pet. The worry for the landlord is that your pet (mainly dogs obviously) is going to chew the reticulation up, dig holes in the lawn and gardens and even though you may not get told that this was the reason you didnt get the home ask yourself if you were the landlord would you give it someone who didnt have a pet first?
Me I love animals and I think having an animal makes people happier in their lives but I certainly would give preference to a person that has a dog reference already done (they do this in the eastern states).
Rentals are going to get harder and harder to get as the Xpats are flying in back home, taking back their homes that were rented etc. so be quick and apply straight away when you see something you like.
We have 0 vacancies right now and we are advertising ones that are coming up in a month's time I have not seen that in 5 years that we have had Vivian's.
