Everyone knows I love animals and I have had Rastina the smaller pomeranian which I had for 16.3 years and Chester which I have had now for 4 years and he is 10. He looks every bit of his 10 years and I can see him aging before my very eyes. He is now going deaf he is not so good in his eye sight and he's showing real signs of aging.
I absolutely hate my pets getting old as there is a very sad time in my life when they pass over that rainbow bridge and go to doggy heaven. I always think I am never doing that again but always do.
For me Chester loves me unconditionally, he's been so terribly spoilt he goes everywhere with me and of course comes into work every day (except Saturday's and Sundays at home opens).
It's very lucky for him he has a second Mum called Jenny who loves him just as much as I do and when he is going to be on his own I will quite often drop him off to her place. He has to learn the apartment living of course but Jen has got him sorted. He loves her just as much.
When I go away on holidays (not going to happen anytime soon eh) Jen comes and house sits Chester and my house of course as not to disrupt him too much.
I dont know what living without a pet would be like now as I have had them most of my life and my childhood we always had a zillon cats, one dog, lamb, birds, guinea pigs, mice, I had a horse and everything else kids seem to want. We did have a big section though so I think that makes a huge difference to what you can have.
It teaches kids to be kind and love animals and that's such a good trait I think.
Well I hope that Chester lives for a few more years yet as I will be heart broken again it took me a long time to get over Rastina but helped more because I had Chester as well.
Take care of your pets they just want to be loved.
