HEAD SPACE

The Federal Government has now pledged $52 million towards mental illness - Head Space.

Those people that need the counselling there will be 14,000 appointments now available - really !!  People with mental illness need counselling constantly and they also need to have a safe place to live and where they feel secure.

I would have thought the money would have been better spent on making a village styled living arrangements with councillors on hand 24/7?  I know that there has been such a huge spike in mental illness and the Government is just not keeping up with it all and some of those poor people are put into Homeswest homes that are definitely not suitable for them. They are constantly living in fear and they certainly dont feel secure.

Not being an expert on mental health only knowing what the Mosman Park residents have to deal with it at times it appears to me that the Government is not dealing with this huge problem appropriately and pretty much has ignored it for years.

$52 million I would love to know just how much of that money get's eaten up in the administration side of things.

Homeswest is also not keeping up with their issues and they are certainly mismanaged everyone knows that, people live it and are constantly complaining about them not looking after their buildings or their keeping a check on their tenants.  Again would love to know just how much money goes into the adminstration side of things.

Governments need to take accountability of their programmes and either privatise it or have it better managed and administered.

I really feel for the families that are dealing with mental health issues as there seems to be very little support and certainly very few avenues where they can turn to for help.

Not having the answers myself I just feel that throwing money at the problem without having the accountability is just another black hole where the money will go down and will we really see what results they say that they are achieving?

Gets down to trusting our Government where I am sure hardly any of the public actually do as they make all these huge promises and then conveniently by pass them - not sure what the answer is there either.  Wipe them all out and start again?
