The Education Department told her she was to be retired on the grounds of ill-health and barred from working in a public school again, unless she reapplied for a medical clearance.
Ms Young was assaulted by a Year 3 student in April 2017 - hit her on the arm twice, left a red welt on her arm. He then tried throwing a chair at her. He threw a chunk of wood at her about a month later, hitting her hip. He tried to stab her with a broken-off pen in her stomach, he was also firing staples at the education assistant, the kids and herself.
(what sort of a kid is this??)
Ms Young said she felt guttered and betrayed when she got the letter terminating her employment. (the student was SUSPENDED after both incidents - really what about being expelled?)
Well I certainly dont think that would encourage anyone thinking about going into "teaching" because the Education Department will not have your back.
I feel really sorry for Ms Young after all your years of faithful service and you get treated so badly.
