Councils are not able to do anything in regards to short term stays until they get the legislation changed and get some rules and regulations around it all.
I am actually in favour of the short term stays as long as they are run properly and the guests are mindful of the neighbours.
What upsets most people are:
loud parties going on to all hours of the night
guests parking on their verge and breaking their sprinklers
rubbish left
Those are the general complaints and in all seriousness most people do behave its more like the younger set between 20-25 seem to want to push the boundaries. However if they get reported they will have trouble get further accommodation in other properties.
We have used air b&b's around the world and have found them extremely good and its an extremely cheaper way of staying in some very expensive cities.
Would be interested to hear from anyone what their experiences have been.
