the bulk of meeting the nicest people far out weighs any negatives.
I was blessed by starting in the industry with Rob Marks offering to give me a retainer (yes you had to pay it back of course) because I was working for him at the front desk he could see that I was a waste in that role (smart man). I did every single course that was available to me and I got to know my "patch" which was a "patch" that no one else wanted, not enough commission for them they wanted the more expensive patches in Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove and the top end of Mosman Park.
Okay so I became the Mosman Park Queen of Units for lots of years, anyone wanting to buy or sell an apartment would look me up and quite frankly I loved it. Yes I sold other million dollar+ properties but the people that I came across were not always the ones that I kept on my Xmas list to be honest. (now before you go getting twisted about that comment not all of those people some are still on my Xmas list today).
I am very fortunate that over the years I have stuck to my guns and my principals and have not wavered on them and everyone knows I work for the Seller 100%, I look after the buyer but unless they retain me they will be paying top dollar and quite often full price if its my listing as I do price them right.
Ups and downs through the industry with crashes highs in betweens I still love it even when it gets really really hard to sell. My opinion is that when its hard the would be if they could be agents leave the industry because they just have not saved enough to get them through the tough times.
Then came Trent Vivian who came on as my personal assistant doing the administrative side to start with, gave him all the shitty jobs and he still stayed keen. Now in our 6th year together and going on 3 years in March with Vivian's Residential being born he will be carrying on the integrity that I have got the reputation for. His enthusiasm is infectious, his honesty is just like mine (hmmm wonder why that is ha ha), he is passionate about real estate. Vivian's name has been around the western suburbs forever with Craig Vivian's Vivian's plumbing gone through 3 generations (another story). Trent will carry that name on and hopefully if he is lucky he will have a boy or a girl wanting to carry it on also. (live that dream eh).
My clients have been with me for 20 years and they are always so loyal which I love. That phone call I get come and list my property will you Gill you sort the price out and let me know what I owe for advertising (hmm in comes Trent now so look out as its video and drones now) to me that is the meaning of success !!
For my clients that are reading this thank you very much for the years that you have followed me and supported me in my career (dont worry not going anywhere yet, will be carried out in a box you know) but if you cannot get me Trent is always there.
