REIWA staff help women's refuge
06 May 2015
This annual REIWA tradition means that the 20 children currently at the centre can chose a gift to give to their mum on 9 May and spread a little love at a stressful time in their lives.
Many of the women have suffered abuse and often the children are subject to custody disputes.
Barbara Tristram, caseworker with the Salvos, explained that custody disputes and secure housing were the two biggest issues facing most women at Graceville.
”We can only offer six weeks emergency accommodation and some pro-bono legal support,” Ms Tristram said.
