NEW BUILDINGS LIKELY TO SLOW DOWN

New buildings likely to slowdown

photo-building-roofAfter predictions of record new dwelling construction in 2014-15, new buildings are expected to slide.

This downturn will be around 23 per cent in 2015-16 and a further 13 per cent in 2016-17.

This outlook is based on the latest analysis of the WA Housing Industry Forecasting Group.

While the slowdown reflects the slowing in demand from falling population growth, the established and rental markets will feel the effects in the coming 12 to 18 months of the completion of a record 25,500 dwellings under construction in the 2014 December quarter.
