WHY GO INTO A BUSINESS NOW ?

Lately because of the launch of "Vivian's Residential Real Estate" I have had so many well wishers, text's and emails all wishing us the very best and they believe we are going to kill it out there - yes I believe that too because the Vivian Team has three exceptionally hard working people who have very good ethics and really do love the industry.

Other people that have seen the launch in the Post have asked me why at this time of my life (didn't know my life was over ha ha) would I launch into my own business.

From as far back as I can remember our family had CH Skelt Jewellers originally started by Grandfather Skelt.  I worked in the jewellers to get pocket money (they didn't really pay you as such - child labour they would call that today) and I was a very good salesperson as I helped a lot of men picking their diamond engagement rings or friendship rings for their girlfriends or unsuspecting fiancée's, another popular thing was the good old eternity ring.  A bit part of our business was the farmers - usually husband and wives use to come in together.  Fortunately I just had the eye for what looked good on womens hands.  It was a rip roaring family business, my father, grandfather, my two aunties and my uncle all were involved.  Dad was a watchmaker so he fixed all the Seiko watches and other brands.  As I got to about 14 I asked Dad if I could become a jeweller, hmm no honey he said women don't become jewellers its a man's game (how sexist would that be today and how many jewellers are women today???)  I accepted my Father's explanation (because you would not have dared challenged your parents - unlike today).  But the family business I just loved and to be honest family is the most important thing in your life as they are the only ones that will be truly honest and love you to you die. (well at least most families ha ha)

When Trent joined my Team a couple of years ago I was not sure that he would have the same passion for people as I have had (on my 17th year).  Trent has blossomed into becoming a really good real estate agent who has a real passion and also the honesty has shone through (ah so proud).  All my clients just love him and tell me all the time what a credit he is to me (both my kids are).  I had thought about going out on my own several times over those 16 years but thought what for who would I hand it over to anyway - now there is TRENT.  Family business people love, they deal with the owners, so many of my clients are still finding out that I have left A..... (cant mention the name or I might get told off) and all of them are just so full of joy towards us - thank you so much everyone means a lot to us.

(Craig Vivian always wanted a son to carry on Vivian Plumbers - but Trent never leant towards becoming a tradesman (thought he was going to be a train driver as I had to take him on the train every day he just loved it)   I am sure it was very disappointing that Vivian's had to cease when Craig died, but "Vivian's Residential was born instead. (that's for you Craig will try to keep the Vivian name out there for you)

Now the "LEAKY TAP" the coffee shop at the front of our business (43 Victoria Street Mosman Park) is going to be run by my daughter Olivia.  Olivia is so talented in marketing and the whole theme to her business is plumbing (in honour of her Father).  She has got some real quirky things in this coffee shop and I believe a hot Italian barista coming to do the coffee now that is just so worth going down to check out how good the coffee is !!  We all wish Olivia well and that whole section of Mosman Park Residents just cannot wait for it - I know as they keep asking me when will it be open !!  Soon by the 6th of March I believe (shhh did I say that)

In life you have to have a go, you cannot wake up one day and say I wish I had tried that, I have always been a worker and always will be and to be involved in a family business again is a real dream come true.

Hopefully Vivian's Residential will be open on the 6th March and our family day is on the 8th March and numbers are being filled up, remember two times 12.00 to 1.30 and 1.30 to 3.30 so don't forget to email julie@viviansresidential.com to put in your RSVP.
