Well just goes to show you when you step back into someone's childhood they can show you some amazing spots that you would have never known was ever there.
One of my bestys took me to Collie where she grew up and showed me all over the town (one set of traffic lights in the town and they had not been put in that long ago).
Actually reminded me of the NZ homes a lot of them. We went to honeymoon pool (Wellington Weir)where there were lots of family camping (typical me wanted to know where the toilets were). Nice swimming hole and everyone looked pretty settled in there having a great time (not for me camping has to be 5 star for me now don't like bugs, creepy crawlies and flying things). I think they call me the pampered person yup that's right. Lots of my friends enjoy it I just don't.
We went and caught up with her family and took Dad out for a drive around think he's 92 and still got it. Collie itself is small and some parts are in the valley and you can see that it's definitely a mining town, a few houses on the market and I actually saw a Eestern Suburbs agents sign up there. They don't have a wealthy town so there's not much money around but there was still some very nice old farmstead homes.
There was lots of swimming holes where she remembers have a lot of fun on her motorbike and in those days there was no computers or x box games and even if there had been it was about affordability really.
Also stopped in at Black Diamond an old mine that had been shut down many years ago but the swimming water there was this amazing Aqua blue water and yes lots of campers there too, my friend reckons they are all locals as not many people know about this one.
Really enjoyed my tour and nice to see yet another small town (bought a ticket in the lotto there thought it might be lucky - nope) ah well next time.
MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS AND GIVE IT A REAL GO !!
