REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY

There is a push for real estate agents to participate in a Wellness and Wellbeing Study. 

Agents need to deal with a lot of failure and rejection, that many professionals do not come across and sometimes it takes its toll on real estate agents and they get down in the dumps with the feeling that they are the only ones feeling like that.

Day in day out sometimes when you are cold calling you are getting told  no, stop calling me, they get all sorts of names some times.  Door knocking people are not nearly so brave.

I use to love door knocking getting to know who is in the neighbourhood and generally people are very good about you knocking on their doors - unless they think you are from a church (use to go in suits dont anymore for that reason).

It's tough when starting out as a real estate agent as you have to work really hard on forming relationships and taking those really hard knocks day in day out - this job is not for the faint hearted person that's for sure you have to have a tough outer skin.

Good support from your colleagues is also important and the team culture in the office is also critical when trying to choose where you are going to work.

Now that they have bought in a minimum wage for new real estate agents it will be a lot tougher to find a spot in any agency unless they are prepared to fund you for about 6-12 months as it takes that long for you to get some traction in the market place.

Do your research on the agency you think you might approach - do they have a bums on seat attitude (probably wont find that now with the salary being introduced) or do they help you get started, i.e. give you a listing to work to start meeting people.

We will only put on an agent that is experienced now as we have a wonderful newby in the office now and she is fantastic does all the right things and as soon as she starts listing she will be like a rocket.  We try to support her in everything that she is doing with a good team culture she will flourish.  Good work ethic is also the key in this game.

One thing is for sure there is no standard day in our lives if we need to do night time appointments we do and work Sunday's as well, basically when we get the call we are off.
