When Covid hit us so many people sold up and went into the Country, sold up and moved away. That worked whilst we had Covid over us, however now the businesses are asking people to come back into the office at least twice a week. What do they do now?
Quite a few people have realized that Country living isn't for them either. They have since re sold and come back into town. As people get older, they need to be near transport, doctors, hospitals and shops and the country doesn't offer it. Very tricky situation.
The countryside offers many things however you really do to weigh up all your options before making such a huge decision. The big migration to the countryside towns have pushed their prices up quite considerably also so it's not opting for a cheaper lifestyle.
As properties are getting tighter and tighter our seniors have gone to buying apartments that are closer to all these amenities. Apartments in my opinion are still not offering quite what they should be to entice the seniors to give up their big homes. Okay for the single ones but the couples still need 3 beds 2 baths they are not ready to be squished up in a small apartment. The only trouble is that those apartments are over the $1,300,000 mark and in some cases that would mean using all the money from the sale of their home - it's tricky.
The cashed-up ones bought a property down south tried it out for a couple of years rented their house out and then they decided it wasn't for them, so they sold up (made money) and moved back into their Perth home.
Personally down South is just too cold for me in Winter, nice in summertime to get away from the heat I suppose but you have to weigh it all up don't you what works for you.
You need to seriously consider what your options are going to be 10-15 years down the track, perhaps buy an apartment for your latter years whilst enjoying the country.
