Having had an a Olympian for a daughter I absolutely get it. The training, the time schedules, the expectations of coaches, no family holidays the list goes on and on.
Last night I watched Nick Kyros play a five setter at Wimbledon and he is truly an amazing athlete for the amount of match practice he does.
What I didnt know that he wasnt in a very good place a few years ago (should have recognised all the signs with the outbursts etc.) he was really struggling and contenplated taking his own life. Obviously his relations with his family was not good ans he was struggling himself mentally so he was self harming himself by cutting himself.
Nick Kyros did a pod cast a few months ago and I was only told about this last night whilst watching his game with Ben and Ben said that he had listened to it which gave him a far better of understanding of Nick. So glad that Nick is able to talk about this and possibly help other people that are currently struggling.
As I say every day on my Gillys blog phone a friend that you know that is struggling with mental health as you could very well save a life.
