LAND TAX

Well all you land owners that have received your land tax, have you actually looked at it or do you just shut up and pay it?

I spent a good 3 hours on the phone yesterday Wednesday 19th December and went between State Revenue and Landgate (who does the valuations) I cannot believe that any piece of land in the Mosman Park area has actually risen in the last 3 years.

We (Perth) have been going through a massive downturn since 2014 and yet in the eyes of Landgate and the State Revenue (who blame Landgate for their valuations) it appears our properties/land have gone up in value?

I am absolutely disgusted with the Government there is just so much rigmarole to even challenge what they are saying (dont they read the damn papers or see that we are down on property sales in Perth) in all seriousness who do we have in these departments are they even on the same planet as us.  I have to say though I spoke with a very nice person in Landgate called Allan and he was very helpful, sympathetic as much as a Government employee can be, Landgate should be very proud of having him work for them at least he kept this lion down to small roar.

Anyway I have formalised a complaint and sent it off this morning as you only have one month to challenge it.  My bets are that it will come back and say no that's right.

I just wish more people would email their member of parliment and ask them why do we even have such a beast as land tax and oh yes dont forget the the metropolitan region improvement tax - yeah ask what that is actually for as no one could tell bar that it has been there since the dark ages.  I believe Ben White is our minister that we should all contact.

Come on people wake up to all these taxes join a group, get a petition going and sock it to them I dont believe we should take this lying down, every year they manage to squeeze more money out of people (who have not had a payrise alot of them).

Land tax - obscene 
Metropoltan region improvement tax (added on to the land tax) - both old and outdated should be gone
Stamp Duty - was promised that it would be gone when we got the GST still waiting....
Capital gains tax - seriously why should the Government get any of the money when they already get the stamp duty in the beginning? 

Just how many taxes does everyone want to pay?

With Council rates all gone up yet again - something they just have to do to keep their budgets - I know some have trimmed their budgets whereas others have not put it up, water & electricity still rising, how much can you get out of everyone.? 

That's my moan I just hope people reading this will actually look at their bills and actually ring and complain or write a letter/email to Minister Ben White.
