At a breakfast held by REIWA it was brought up about smoke alarms and rcd's.
The old homes that were wired 40-50 years ago are now coming up to having to be re wired, this has been tested with the old rcd's as the current wiring cannot cope with it.
Rewiring a home can be quite expensive starting from $15,000 I would not be waiting until one week from settlement when you are fitting the rcd's and the electricians says to you no sorry it has to be re wired before I can fit the rcd's.
If you have an old home it maybe worth your while to actually get an electrician to check your wiring before entering into the selling phase you could save yourself a lot of money.
